Howdy! Just as a warning, I've been in a big 'bad movie' streak. I know I've said this many times before, but I absolutely love watching a terrible movie. Most days when I get home from work, I'm mentally exhausted, so I don't want to think or feel sad or be stressed, so I just pop in movie that gives me a Lifetime vibe and just relax. This week, I seemed to have enjoyed that guilty pleasure a little too many times. Enjoy.
#169 Running For Grace
Available on Netflix
A working class kid who walks everywhere (that seems to be his only character trait) and a rich girl fall in love after seeing each other a handful of times, touching each other maybe three times, and kissing once.
I actually didn't think this movie would be that bad until about five minutes in, so props to them for making an absolute fool out of me.
What separates this bad movie from the others I've seen, is that it didn't know it was bad, which was a little heart breaking. It really tried, but no matter how great the set looked, the acting and rushed plot were too bad to look past.
#170 Feed
Available on Hulu
A twin's relationship becomes volatile after a sudden tragedy.
I don't really care when older actors gets cast as high school characters, unless when like in this movie, it's painfully obvious.
Both of the main actors are in their thirties, and they look it. How hard would it have been to cast younger people? Or change the plot to be about college students? I'm not sure why this bothers me so much, because the age difference was the least of this movie's problems.
#171 My Life As A Zucchini
Available on Netflix
A young boy adjusts to his new life in an orphanage.
I broke the 'bad movie' streak for a heart warming animated movie that I absolutely loved. I am a sucker for stop animation, and this one was magical.
As someone who is void of emotions, and hates feeling them, I really love when somebody can tell such an emotional story in a light and relatable way. Netflix is annoying in that it keeps enabling people to talk about Friends too much, but it's also amazing in that it gives you little gems like My Life As A Zucchini.
And yes, I do not like Friends -- don't @ me.
#172 Duck Butter
Available on Netflix
Two women decide to stay together for 24 hours to test out a theory about marriage.
This movie would be fine if one of the characters was so damn annoying. She does something at the end that I will never understand. It was unnecessary and quite frankly, made me irrationally mad.
Cool concept though.
#173 Pottersville
Available on Netflix
A local general store owner gets tied up in a Sasquatch controversy after finding out his wife is a furry.
I can't make this shit up. I'm not going to even say anything because nothing will do the weirdness of this movie justice. Watch it and see for yourself.
#174 No Strings Attached
Available on Hulu
Two childhood acquaintances decide to become friends with benefits.
A boring take on a boring subject. I'm very tired of seeing attractive people fall in love with each other. It's so uninteresting. I can make fun of the previous 'bad movies' all day, but at least they're not boring.
Well since I might've offended the Friends crowd, a very defensive bunch, I should probably call it a night. See ya next week with hopefully better movies and hotter takes.
