Howdy! I want to start this week with something positive. I've been seeking out other creative endeavors outside of work and outside of this blog and at the risk of sounding cliche -- it's changed my life.

It sounds really dumb. but I've never been good at enjoying hobbies. I always started them when I was bored or unemployed, but putting that much hope in one thing is very scary for me. So the fact that I get to work on so many creatively fulfilling things -- including my job -- is making my life feel full in a way that I haven't experienced in a very long time. I'm rambling at this point, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that for once -- I'm happy to report that I'm happy.

#196 After Maria

Available on Netflix

A documentary following the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

It was really hard to watch this one. The fact that people are still homeless because of this hurricane is really upsetting. Even more upsetting is how unsurprising it is.

#197 Endless Love

Available on Prime Video and Hulu

A young couple's intense relationship is put to the test when the girl's dad forbids them from contacting each other for six months.

Any movie where I agree with the parents is unsettling. I also noticed that there's a reboot that came out a few years ago. I will not be watching it.

#198 Watching the Detectives

Available on Prime Video

A video store owner's life is thrown for a loop when he meets a manic pixie dream girl.

If you're wondering what year this movie came out: the main character owns a video store and a big plot point is that a 'franchise' video store is taking over the market. The other big plot point is that the main character meets the weirdest, most annoying woman I've ever seen. He falls in love with her for being quirky, I guess?

#199 The Farewell

In Theaters

Based on an actual lie, the main character struggles with the news of her grandmother's cancer diagnosis and her family's decision to withhold the news from her grandmother.

This movie is just as good as everybody is saying. I believe it gets a wide release this weekend. You should go see it.

#200 The Exception

Available on Netflix

In a plot twist for the ages, an attractive German soldier falls for an attractive Jewish servant.

I've seen about 4 of these movies now. I don't understand what makes people think we want these stories anymore.

#201 Little Women

Available on Netflix

A progressive family of predominately women struggle with life, love, and being attracted to young Christian Bale.

Apparently there's a remake of this coming out directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Emma Watson, and my queen, Florence Pugh. I'm very excited for it.

Thanks for reading and remember to listen to my new podcast, The Brother Sister Show. See ya next week.
